Psychological Gimbal Lock

A psychological gimbal lock is a state of physiological shattering that will either tread down the path of growth, sometimes turning into a state of great enlightenment, or it will alternatively turn into a state of madness.

To explain this, first you need to understand what a gimbal lock is. A gimbal is a rotational axis point on a 3d plane where a 3d object rotates from it, often perceived as a ring that the other dimensional planes are able to pivot on. In terms of computer science or 3d modeling, the gimbal lock is a point of axis on three planes that doesn't exist; as a result, this specific point of axis can't be calculated which will cause the object's rotation to spin about in a form of impossibility. Think of it as a 3d object that exists in a 2d plane, where a 3d object can only exist on a 3d plane where the processing of information within its mathematical equation shatters like a broken mirror as it desperately tries to fit the impossible into the possible.

Now how does this translate when it is applied to the psychology of the human mind?. When the worldview of a person breaks and realizes that the bubble that its information is built upon is no longer real, the mind grasps to understand the plane of existence it resides in.

This can happen when a person experiences a severe state of trauma, such as a loved one their entire life is built about dying in a way that is unexpected and shocking for one method that could cause it. Another means of this happening is when the bubble of information they lived their whole lives believing is real is suddenly proven otherwise, which often happens when a person breaks free from a cult or a systemic form of brainwashing that has lasted an entire lifetime.

When the human mind itself enters the shock of this sequence of events and enters into a state of physiological dormancy, it becomes what people often conflate to a zombie like mentality where the world moves but the mind doesn't, locking the mind itself into a perpetual state of reexperiencing its self-identified state of emergency but never progressing from it.

What will happen next as a resulting process of healing of this, is the worldview a person builds their entire life upon is no longer relevant to the world they live in anymore as the world they are now forced to live in is much greater in terms of its existence than the smaller bubble that the worldview based itself upon. The method that happens with this is the bubble the worldview based itself upon pops and can no longer be put back together, leading to the person experiencing this having their world shatter like a fractured mirror of the reality they once held onto to live by.

The pathways that follow this shattering of the human mind will lead towards one of two paths; either, the path will begin to adapt and understand the greater scope of the world itself and the worldview will rebuild itself to encapsulate everything that is now perceived as real to then rebuild the foundations of what is believed in its new form of worldview, leading to either a form of adaptation to the real world itself or a period of great enlightenment as it begins to understand and process a significantly larger scope of the world itself into its new structure of worldview.

The other path it will follow is the long dark path of madness and insanity. This path refuses to believe that the worldview is wrong and instead of adapting to the new understanding of the world as it is, begins to desperately try to cling to the fractured reflections of the mirrored image of what one wants the world to be to piece it back together. Instead of conforming and adapting to the world itself as it is and has always been, it instead treads down the path that forcibly and aggressively tries to force the world itself to conform to its smaller worldview that they already understand is no longer real but still refuses to accept that reality. This path inevitably leads to their own destruction along with the destruction of anything they have a means of authority over, however, the lie is still the lie no matter how much the lie wants to be the truth.
